AMEB exams may be scheduled during school holidays and on long weekends that fall within the exam period.
Advise exam dates to avoid when filling in the ‘Scheduling Request’ section of your AMEB exam enrolment when you enrol.
The enroller should use the AMEB Important Dates checklist to ensure they have all the information they need before they enrol a student in an exam.
School term dates and public holidays
Term and school holiday dates in New South Wales schools are based on the dates published by the NSW Department of Education.
Specific term start and end dates vary from school-to-school across both government and non-government schools. For example, students may start on a different date from teachers.
The following 2024 government school term dates and public holidays were correct at January 2024. Please check your school calendar for additional dates.
- January 30 Term 1 commences for students at NSW Government Schools
- March 29 Good Friday public holiday
- April 1 Easter Monday public holiday
- April 15 NSW Government school holidays commence
- April 25 ANZAC Day (Thursday)
- April 30 Term 2 commences for students at NSW Government schools
- June 10 King's Birthday public holiday (Monday)
- July 8 NSW Government school holidays commence
- July 23 Term 3 commences for students at NSW Government schools
- September 30 NSW Government school holidays commence
- October 7 Labour Day public holiday (Monday)
