Repertoire exams

The repertoire exam format is an exam option available for preliminary to grade 8 as an alternative to comprehensive (traditional) grade exams.

Aural tests, sight reading, general knowledge and technical work are not examined in this type of exam. The candidate instead performs a program of four or five works only (depending on the grade and syllabus requirements), and the result achieved is based purely on the performance of the program in relation to the syllabus requirements.

This exam format is ideal for candidates who may experience anxiety around the interactive sections of a comprehensive exam.

Repertoire exams can be taken as a face-to-face exam in all practical grade exam sessions or as a video submission in session 20 or session 21.

Video repertoire exams - recording requirements

  • the candidate clearly states their name, date (including year), subject and grade at the start of the video.
  • the entire video must be recorded in one continuous take from the beginning of the candidate's introduction to the end of the last piece (have only one video recording).
  • the video must be recorded no earlier than three (3) weeks prior to enrolment and no later than three (3) weeks after enrolment.

Guidelines

  • It is the enroller's responsibility to ensure they watch the video recording for sound quality, appropriate video angle and completeness prior to uploading in AMEB Connect.
  • Video files must be a maximum of 1.5GB. Any larger files will need to be compressed before uploading.
  • File names cannot include any special characters, such as dashes, apostrophes or underscores. For example, JohnDoe45635.mov (the candidate name and number) would be a suitable file name.
  • Any video recording submitted to AMEB (NSW) for a Video Repertoire Exam must be used for exam purposes only and cannot be uploaded to any public sites.
  • NOTE - Any video recordings NOT submitted by the video submission due date will be automatically withdrawn and enrolment fees forfeited.
