Simone Koolhaas completed her bachelor of music (performance) at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music, before earning her master’s degree. Her teachers included Dorothy Sumner, Georg Peterson and Susan Blake. She also undertook study tours in the United Kingdom and the United States, where she learned from several world-class teachers and cellists.

Currently, Ms Koolhaas teaches cello in Sydney’s private schools, working with students from beginner through to diploma levels. She also maintains a private studio.

Ms Koolhaas was the Syllabus Consultant (Repertoire) for AMEB Cello Series 2.
