Danielle Eden earned her master’s degree at the University of Sydney and her doctorate at the University of London.

For the past 20 years, Dr Eden has played flute and piccolo with Opera Australia. She has also played with the Sydney Symphony Orchestra, the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, the Glynbourne Touring Opera, the D’Oyly Carte Opera and the BBC Welsh Symphony Orchestra.

Dr Eden is a lecturer at the Australian Institute of Music and an adjunct lecturer at Southern Cross University. Her journal articles include ‘The Vertical Piccolo’, which was published in the Galpin Society Journal. She gave a presentation on ‘Artistry and the Arts-Based Researcher’ at the 2018 conference of the Higher Education Research and Development Society of Australia.

Dr Eden is the author of Piccolo! Piccolo!, Books 1 and 2, which are designed to help piccolo players master the difficult middle and low registers of the instrument.
