She completed her studies at the Sydney Conservatorium with Daniel Mendelow and was awarded a Big Brother Scholarship to study with James Watson, Professor of Trumpet at the Royal College of Music in London.

Ms Walmsley has won many national, state and eisteddfod titles on trumpet, cornet and flugelhorn. She has performed with the State Youth Band, Sydney Symphony Orchestra and Willoughby Symphony Orchestra and has adjudicated at the Sydney Eisteddfod, the School Band Festival, Metropolitan Solos, the Yamaha Band Festival and the State Solo competition.

Currently, Ms Walmsley is Leader of Instrumental Music at Monte Sant’ Angelo Mercy College. Under her direction, the Wind Ensemble has won the Sydney Eisteddfod, Diamond and Gold Awards at the Yamaha Festival, and the State Band Championships on five occasions. Ms Walmsley also conducts the school’s Symphony Orchestra, Concert Band, Brass Ensemble, and two Stage Bands. She has directed several musicals at the college and has taken students to California and Japan for music tours.
