Tobias Armstrong studied clarinet at the Tamworth Conservatorium as a child, earning his first Associate Diploma in his final year of school. He went on to complete his Bachelor of Music studies through the Sydney Conservatorium under the tutelage of Deborah de Graaff, during which time he also earned his Licentiate Diploma for the clarinet.

Mr Armstrong studied saxophone with Christina Leonard from 2015 to 2017, earning distinctions in both the Associate and the Licentiate in music. In addition to his musical qualifications, he holds a Bachelor of Arts in philosophy and gender and cultural studies. He is currently enrolled in a Master of Teaching (primary) program.

As a performer, Mr Armstrong has worked with the Sydney Chamber Opera and Chronology Arts. His performance practice is centred on playing flute and whistles for traditional Irish music.

Mr Armstrong teaches clarinet and saxophone students at several schools, including Cranbrook School, Meriden School, Sydney Grammar School and Trinity Grammar School.
