Teléna Routh studied the oboe with Guy Henderson at the New South Wales Conservatorium of Music, where she gained her DSCM in both teaching and performing. She was awarded a scholarship by the music board of the Australia Council for the Arts and continued her studies with Helmut Winschermann at the Nordwestdeutsche Hochschule für Musik.
While in Germany, Mrs Routh played in the Northwest German Philharmonic and the Tibor Varga Chamber Orchestra. She toured Europe with the German Bach Orchestra and performed and recorded chamber music for German radio. Mrs Routh then lived in Hong Kong for two years, playing in the Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra and the Hong Kong Chamber Orchestra.
In Australia, Mrs Routh has played with the Sydney Symphony Orchestra, the Australian Opera and Ballet Orchestra and the Australian Chamber Orchestra. She has also played as guest principal with the Adelaide Symphony Orchestras and with freelance orchestras and musicals. In addition, she regularly performs chamber music with Windfall and the Amabile players.
Mrs Routh has many years of teaching experience, including privately and in schools.
