Phillida Green undertook two years of postgraduate study with Sulamita Aronovsky at the Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester, having previously studied music at the University of Sydney, the NSW Conservatorium of Music, and the Junior Schools of both the Royal College of Music in London and the Juilliard School of Music in New York.

Ms Green made several appearances as a soloist with the Sydney Symphony Orchestra, including a 1976 Prom Concert conducted by Sir Charles Groves. In 1978, she was NSW winner of the ABC Instrumental and Vocal Competition and a prizewinner in the Dom Polski Piano Competition at the Adelaide Festival. In 1980, she was a semifinalist in the Rina Sala Gallo International Piano Competition in Monza, Italy.

In addition to performing in numerous recitals in Australia and the United Kingdom, Ms Green has appeared for the Sydney Schumann Society and the Chopin Society of Wollongong. She has also performed as associate artist at the Illawarra Performing Arts Centre, Gallery Nine and the Sydney Conservatorium. In 2005, she performed Carnival of the Animals with the Wollongong Symphony Orchestra. In 2014, she played for the Delegates’ Choir at the 2014 National Kodaly Conference.

Ms Green taught at the Wollongong Conservatorium of Music for 27 years and is currently on the staff at Ascham School. She has presented numerous masterclasses and workshops, including for the 1999 Sydney Conservatorium Winter Piano Festival and for the Music Teachers’ Association in Canberra, Sydney and Newcastle. In 2009, she presented a lecture and demonstration on contemporary Australian piano repertoire at the Wollongong Conservatorium of Music.
