Vocalist and pianist Kerrie O’Connor Brown has had an extensive career in performing and teaching, both in Australia and overseas.

Focusing initially on a career in performance, Ms O’Connor Brown was highly successful in competitions. After winning the prestigious Australian finals of the Alla Scala Competition, she performed at La Scala in Milan. She then travelled to England, where she worked with Vida Harford. After returning to Sydney, she won the state finals of the ABC Vocal and Instrumental Competition.

Ms O’Connor Brown has performed in masterclasses with Gerard Souzay and Geoffrey Parsons. In 1981, she was an artist-in-residence for the Sydney International Piano Competition. She has performed the standard operatic roles for soprano, as well as leading roles in the standard musical repertoire. Ms O’Connor Brown was a regular guest soloist with the Sydney Symphony Orchestra and a recording artist with the Australian Broadcasting Corporation.

While performing and teaching, Ms O’Connor Brown continued her studies. She earned her diploma of operatic art at the New South Wales Conservatorium of Music and was admitted as a Fellow of Trinity College in London. In addition, she undertook studies with Professor Modesti of Paris and Ernest Metz of New York.

For more than 25 years, Ms O’Connor Brown has been examining both locally and internationally. She conducts regular masterclasses and workshops in Australia and the United States. A guest presenter at international music conferences, Ms O’Connor Brown is also a recognised adjudicator at eisteddfods and music festivals.
