The NSW Government funds a Creative Kids program as an initiative to encourage NSW children to participate in the arts and explore their creativity.
Parents, guardians and carers can apply for a voucher with a value of up to $100 per calendar year for each student aged 4.5 to 18 years old enrolled in school. The voucher may be used with a registered activity provider for registration, participation and tuition costs for a range of creative activities including music and drama lessons.
Vouchers cannot be used directly toward music or drama exam fees, but they can subsidise the cost of lessons to help them prepare for these goals.
Becoming a Creative Kids provider is a great marketing tool for your teaching business. Honouring these vouchers allows families in your community to introduce their child to the joy that can come from music or drama studies, or gives your existing client base a much-appreciated $100 discount from their child’s tuition fees each year.
Jing Liang, a Private Music Teacher representative on the AMEB (NSW) Board, encourages teachers to apply to become a provider. “From my experience, it is easy to apply as a provider once you have all the listed documents ready. Service NSW has an easy to access website for the provider to exchange their voucher. You only need to enter the student's date of birth and voucher number. Many families are very happy and thankful that they can use this voucher for their lessons. I recommend teachers to register as a provider and let more families benefit from it!”
