Ukrainian-born Luba Totoeva studied in Kiev and was a visiting scholar at the University of Illinois. She came to Australia in 1992 and received her accreditation as a private music teacher from the Sydney Conservatorium.

Since 1994, Mrs Totoeva has taught piano to tertiary and community students at the University of Newcastle. She teaches at all levels, from early beginners to diploma level, and also accompanies for HSC and AMEB exams. Mrs Totoeva auditions for scholarships and examines at both the University of Newcastle and Avondale College of Higher Education.

Mrs Totoeva participated in the development of pedagogy course materials for Bachelor of Education students of the University of Newcastle. She is an enthusiastic supporter of masterclasses, festivals and eisteddfods and organises recitals for the Newcastle community.
