Leonie Hunter
Leonie Hunter receiving her LMusA from federal examiner Lyn Morgan

Wagga Wagga piano teacher Leonie Hunter began her association with AMEB in 1979 as a young child learning piano from the nuns at St Joseph's Convent in the small NSW town of Narrandera.

She continued her studies into her teenage years and played piano as part of her music studies for her HSC. Leonie achieved her AMusA for piano in 1990, under the tutelage of Keith Radford, the director of the Wagga Wagga Conservatorium of Music.

Leonie discontinued her music studies while raising her family but as her family grew, she felt compelled to resume her connection to music. From 2005 she advanced through the grades of the AMEB classical singing syllabus and achieved her AMusA for singing in 2017.

Following this achievement, she refocused on her piano studies. At the March 2025 AMEB (NSW) presentation ceremony, Leonie received her Licentiate (LMusA) for piano.

We congratulate Leonie on her third AMEB diploma - 35 years after her very first!
