2019 is the last year that the 2017 syllabus for Oboe will be examined. Only the new Oboe syllabus as per the 2019 Manual of Syllabuses will be examined from 2020.
The 2016 syllabuses for Trumpet, Trombone and Euphonium are no longer examinable. Only the syllabus as per the 2019 Manual of Syllabuses is available for examination.
2019 is the last year that the 2017 syllabus for Tuba will be examined. Only the new Tuba syllabus as per the 2019 Manual of Syllabuses will be examined from 2020.
The use of the fagottino is now allowed in Level 1 (Grade 1 to Grade 4) within the standard Bassoon syllabus in order to cater for younger users of this syllabus. Teachers and candidates must ensure that, where applicable, appropriately transposed accompaniments are provided for the exam and that all requirements listed in the AMEB Bassoon syllabus are met.

From 1 January 2021 the following syllabuses will no longer be available for examination:
- CPM (Bass)
- CPM (Guitar)
- CPM (Vocal)
- CPM (Revised Keyboard) and
- CPM (Drum Kit)
These syllabuses will not be directly replaced, so 2020 is the final year that candidates may sit for an AMEB practical examination in CPM (Contemporary Popular Music).

Over 40 recent works have been added to the Musical Theatre Manual lists (across Grades 2 to Associate) for 2019 in order to keep pace with the latest repertoire in this syllabus area.
New set works will be introduced from early 2020 for:
- Theory of Music - Grades 5 and 6
- Theory of Music - Licentiate Diploma (Musicology)
- Musicianship - Grades 5 and 6
