Heather Keens has extensive experience as a performer and teacher in opera and music theatre. She has conducted workshops and masterclasses in singing and voice. In the United Kingdom, Ms Keens has taught at Vocal Process, the Guildford School of Acting and Surrey University. In Australia, she has taught at the Queensland Conservatorium of Music, Griffith University and the University of Newcastle.

Over the past 30 years, Ms Keens has performed in opera, operetta, music theatre, oratorio and recital, in both Australia and the United Kingdom. She has performed with companies such as the Lyric Opera of Queensland, the Australian Opera, the Queensland Theatre Company, Pavilion Opera, and Lumiere & Son Theatre Company, as well as on television for the BBC and Channel 4 in the United Kingdom and the ABC and SBS in Australia. Ms Keens has also performed at various European festivals.

Ms Keens has participated in vocal masterclasses in Australia and overseas. She has studied languages and phonetics and has developed a wide interest in performance and repertoire. In 2019 she was awarded a Masters in Research, Arts/Music from Macquarie University.
