Shirley Yim completed her master’s degree in piano pedagogy at the Conservatorium of Music. She also holds a bachelor of arts majoring in music and a graduate diploma in music education, among other qualifications.

Mrs Yim regularly travels overseas to participate in international piano festivals and conferences, including the International Summer Academy of the Mozarteum in Salzburg, the International Piano Academy Freiburg, and the Oxford Philomusica Piano Festival.

For the past 25 years, Mrs Yim has maintained a private studio in the Hills District where she teaches piano and musicianship to students ranging from beginners to HSC and diploma levels. She conducts group lessons for very young beginners, focusing on music and movement, and is particularly interested in helping children develop proper piano technique and musicality.

Mrs Yim has organised many piano masterclasses, concerts and competitions.
