Examiner 412

Kathryn Phillips has 55 years of experience in music performance and teaching. She has been an AMEB piano and violin examiner for 40 years and a senior diploma examiner in both piano and strings for 20 years.

During her performing career, Mrs Phillips was associated with the Australian Opera and Ballet Orchestra as a first violinist and with ABC Sinfonia. For 25 years she was leader of the Rockdale Opera Company and for 10 years she was with the St Andrew’s Cathedral Orchestra.

Mrs Phillips teaches piano, violin, musicianship, theory and music in her private studio. She is a registered tutor for the bachelor of music education course at the University of New South Wales and also presents masterclasses at various schools of music throughout Sydney.

Since 1997, Mrs Phillips has been the instrumental convener of the St George Instrumental Eisteddfod. She also adjudicates eisteddfods in Sydney metropolitan areas and in regional New South Wales. In addition, Mrs Phillips enjoys accompanying students for their AMEB string examinations.

For more than four decades, Mrs Phillips has been the lead organist and choir conductor at her local church.
