Christina Leonard earned her bachelor of music degree at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music, studying with Mark Walton. She received a Queen’s Trust Scholarship to complete her postgraduate degree in advanced instrumental studies at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London, where she majored in saxophone. Mrs Leonard studied with John Harle and Kyle Horch, performing in competitions in London and Geneva.

While an undergraduate student, Mrs Leonard reached the national finals in the instrumental section of the ABC Young Performers Awards. She also performed the Ibert Concerto with the Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra and the Glazunov Concerto with the Conservatorium Symphony Orchestra.

Mrs Leonard has made several recital broadcasts for 2MBS-FM and has recorded recital programs for ABC Classic FM’s Young Australia program. Her other recordings for the ABC include concert programs with both the Sydney Spring Ensemble and the Alpha Ensemble.

In 1996, Mrs Leonard was appointed as a part-time teacher of saxophone at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music. She regularly performs solo and ensemble concerts throughout Sydney and is a casual player with the Sydney Symphony Orchestra.
