AMEB Awards

The AMEB Awards are presented annually by the AMEB (NSW) to recognise excellence in teaching.

Awards

There are fourteen (14) annual awards, with the possibility of additional awards from time to time as deemed by the AMEB (NSW) Board. The Awards are as follows:

Eligibility for Awards

Private Teacher Awards

Music teacher

To be eligible for consideration, a music teacher must have enrolled a minimum of ten (10) candidates under their teacher number in a category in the year of calculation.

Speech and Drama teacher

To be eligible for consideration, a speech and drama teacher must have enrolled at least ten (10) candidates under their teacher number, with a minimum of two (2) in the written section and two (2) in the Practical section in the year of calculation.

Music School or Studio

To be eligible for consideration, a music school or studio must have enrolled a minimum of ten (10) candidates under the school/studio’s teacher number, in the year of calculation.

School

To be eligible for consideration, a school must have enrolled a minimum of ten (10) candidates under the school’s teacher number in the year of calculation.

Lifetime Achievement in Music Education Award

To a teacher who has enrolled candidates in AMEB (NSW) music examinations, and has made a significant contribution to music education as deemed by the AMEB (NSW) Board.

Lifetime Achievement in Speech and Drama Education Award

To a teacher who has enrolled candidates in AMEB (NSW) Speech and Drama examinations, and has made a significant contribution to speech and drama education as deemed by the AMEB (NSW) Board.

Definitions

Private teacher

A teacher who works from home or a private studio who is a solo teacher ie does not employ or work with other teachers.

Music School or Studio

A studio, music or speech & drama school, or regional conservatorium with more than one (1) teacher.

School

An educational institution that provides basic primary or secondary education. Schools in this category would be a NSW government school or a non-government school registered by the Board of Studies, Teaching and Educational Standards NSW (BOSTES).

Lifetime Achievement in Music Education Award

To an individual for outstanding achievement in music education over their lifetime.  Awarded by the AMEB (NSW) Board from time to time at their discretion.

Lifetime Achievement in Speech and Drama Education Award

To an individual for outstanding achievement in speech and drama education over their lifetime. Awarded by the AMEB (NSW) Board from time to time at their discretion.
