Catherine Walmsley

Catherine Walmsley completed her studies at the NSW Conservatorium with Daniel Mendelow and was awarded a Big Brother Scholarship to study with James Watson, Professor of Trumpet at the Royal College of Music, London. She has won many national, state and eisteddfod titles on trumpet, cornet and flugelhorn, and has performed with the State Youth Band, Sydney Symphony Orchestra and Willoughby Symphony Orchestra.

Catherine has taught brass at St Leo's College, Knox Grammar School and St Pius X College, as well as conducting many concert bands and ensembles. She has an established private studio, with many former students involved in teaching and performing. She has adjudicated at the School Band Festival and the Metropolitan Solos, Yamaha Band Festival and State Solo competition. Catherine is currently Director of Bands, Orchestra and Brass teaching at Monte Sant Angelo Mercy College, Director of Bands at Gordon West Public School and brass teacher at Barker College and Sydney Grammar School.
