LMusA (Clarinet), DipMusEd (Sydney) Teacher Certificate

Examiner Number: 496

Patricia is a graduate of Sydney Conservatorium of Music. Her clarinet studies began as a child in regional NSW and then continued in high school with the Principal Clarinet, Queensland Symphony, Rodney Jacobsen. At Sydney Conservatorium, she studied with Principal Clarinet Sydney Symphony, Donald Westlake.

Following graduation, in her role as High School Music Teacher in Regional NSW, Patricia co-ordinated a innovative instrumental programme for school students in co-operation with local teachers. This led to her producing school musicals and concerts to give opportunities to these regional students.

After a break to have children, her studies in clarinet continued to the award of LMusA under the guidance of the Principal Clarinet, Sydney Symphony, Lawrence Dobell. Later, in France she studied contemporary styles with Philippe Cuper, Principal Clarinet with L'Orchestre de l'Opéra de Paris.

Patricia’s teaching experience spans more than 40 years. As a leading teacher of clarinet in private schools and colleges in Sydney and Melbourne, she is held in high regard for her success in teaching students for AMEB Diplomas and grades, HSC and Tertiary performance exams.

As an adjudicator she has been enthusiastic in promoting and encouraging music students. In Melbourne, Patricia conducted and tutored for Melbourne Youth Music programmes and orchestras.

Patricia currently teaches instrumental and classroom music at a private school in Sydney’s Eastern Suburbs and is a Woodwind Examiner for AMEB since 1988 and Diploma Examiner from 1996.
