Examiner Number: 280

Elaine Hodda has been an AMEB examiner for many years and is a member of the Standing Committee for Speech and Drama (NSW). In 2014, she marked 25 years of service as an examiner in Speech and Drama.

Elaine received the AMEB Teaching Shield (Private Teacher Category) for Preliminary to Grade 6 in 1993, 1994 and 1998, and the AMEB Teaching Shield (Private Teacher Category) for Grade 6 to Licentiate in 2001, 2003 and 2005. She received a letter of commendation for achieving one of the top teacher results in both of these categories in 2012 and 2013, and recognition for this achievement in 2014 for the Grade 6 to Licentiate category.

Since 1978, Elaine has taught speech at Santa Sabina College in Strathfield. She retired from the school in 2013 but has continued teaching at her studio in Carlingford. Before commencing at Santa Sabina, Elaine taught speech at St Mary’s in Rydalmere for three years and at Our Lady of Mercy College in Parramatta. She successfully entered choirs in the City of Sydney Eisteddfod and the Parramatta Eisteddfod.

Having been involved with the Parramatta Eisteddfod Society for 40 years, Elaine was made a Life Member for her services. She is currently Assistant Secretary of the Society. There is no doubt that she believes in the ethos of Eisteddfods.

Elaine has written scripts and prepared large groups for the AMEB Speech Communication exams. She has been an adjudicator throughout New South Wales, Queensland, Victoria and Tasmania, as well as in Central Australia.
