Phillida Green

Phillida Green undertook her early studies at the Juilliard School in New York and at the Royal College of Music, London. She completed a Bachelor of Music degree in Sydney and two years of post-graduate study in piano at the Royal Northern College of Music, Manchester. She was a semi-finalist in the ‛Rina Sala Gallo’ International Piano Competition in Italy. While in England she taught at Leigh Tertiary College and at Chetham's School of Music.

She has been teaching the piano privately and at schools in Sydney over the last twenty-eight years, and has was on the staff of the University of Wollongong Conservatorium of Music from 1983 to 2010. She has performed widely as a soloist, both in Australia and England, including several appearances as soloist with the Sydney Symphony Orchestra and broadcasts for the ABC. Performances include the complete ‛Well-Tempered Klavier’ at Wollongong Conservatorium in 1984, duo piano recitals with her sister Elizabeth Green and, more recently, frequent appearances as a staff member of Wollongong Conservatorium, as both soloist and ensemble player.

She has adjudicated at several eisteddfods in Sydney, Canberra and regional NSW, and has been on the selection panel for the Sydney auditions of the National World Power International Piano Competition, as well as giving masterclasses and workshops in and around Sydney.
