Vicki Crozier

BA (Music)

Examiner Number: 128

Vicki Crozier has been an AMEB examiner for the past 25 years.

Her early teachers, John Elliot (piano) and John Freeland (flute) had a lasting influence and inspired Vicki to pursue a career in music.

Vicki attended the Sydney Conservatorium, studying flute and baroque performance techniques with Nick Negerevitch and Howard Oberg. She then went to the Canberra School of Music, where she gained a BA(Mus) in Flute Performance. Her teachers were Margaret Crawford and David Cubbin.

Vicki subsequently went to London, where she studied with Peter Lloyd, then Principal Flute with the London Symphony Orchestra. While in England, Vicki attended the Ramsgate Flute Summer School, attending masterclasses given by William Bennett, Trevor Wye and James Galway.

On her return to Australia, Vicki was an artist in residence in Hamilton, Victoria and a member of the ABC Sinfonia. She was also Principal Flute in the Bolshoi and Melbourne Philharmonic Orchestras.

Vicki is an experienced teacher, having taught at the Goulburn College of Advanced Education, Kent Music School, Frensham School, Meriden School and Chevalier College. Vicki also teaches flute to tertiary students as part of their degree at UNSW. Her students have gained entry to music degrees at Canberra School of Music, Sydney Conservatorium and UNSW.

Vicki has maintained her love of the flute over the years and hopes to provide encouragement and constructive criticism to the many students she is involved with, both through examining and teaching.
