Caron Chan

Caron Chan is a casual lecturer in Violin at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music and a string examiner for the AMEB (NSW). A respected pedagogue, she has given masterclasses in Australia and New Zealand and is a regular contributor to the AUSTA magazine Stringendo. Caron is passionate about training musicians of the highest calibre and has studied violin pedagogy at the Juilliard School in New York and Jacobs School of Music in Indiana with Mimi Zweig.

Caron’s students have been prizewinners in the Sydney Eisteddfod, finalists in the Kuring-gai Concerto Competition, have been members of the Australian Youth Orchestra and ACO Academy and have been featured in Fine Music FM’s Young Performers Live Broadcast series.

In addition to teaching, adjudicating and examining, Caron maintains a busy performing career. Caron has appeared as Guest Concertmaster with the Willoughby Symphony Orchestra and Guest Concertmaster and soloist with The Metropolitan Orchestra. Formerly a first violinist with the New Zealand Symphony Orchestra, she currently plays with the Australian Opera and Ballet Orchestra and is a guest musician with the Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra.
