BMus (Syd), LMusA, DipEd

Examiner Number: 54

Anita Beuthien began her musical studies on the accordion, and soon after also commenced piano studies. Anita learned with teachers including Nancy Salas, and in Germany, Aloys Kontarsky. Later she discovered violin, studying with Geza Bachmann and Christopher Kimber.

Anita completed her studies at the University of Sydney with a Bachelor of Music in Performance. She has had the opportunity to play concertos with orchestras, including solo performances with international orchestras on the accordion (Malaysian Philharmonic, Sydney Symphony), and on piano.

She has played violin regularly for over 20 years with the Sydney Symphony, also playing with the Australian Opera and Ballet Orchestra, West Australian and Tasmanian Orchestras, and many freelance orchestras. She has recorded on all of her instruments, and has added viola to her accomplishments. Other activities include performing early music on period instruments, including her own harpsichord.

Teaching has always been part of her busy schedule, teaching all of the above instruments. She also enjoys accompanying work, and coaching chamber music groups.

Anita enjoys playing chamber music, having been a regular member of the Orpheus String Quartet, and other chamber groups, including giving classical concerts locally, internationally, and on cruise ships.
