Anne-Frances Hopkins

Anne graduated from the Sydney Conservatorium of Music, gaining a Bachelor of Music degree with distinction. She was a student of Nikolai Evrov, Sonya Hanke and Margaret Hair. Winning numerous awards whilst there, she was also a soloist with the Conservatorium orchestra, and a guest pianist with the Sydney Symphony Orchestra.

Upon winning a Big Brother Scholarship, Anne moved to London to study with Christopher Elton at the Royal Academy of Music. After travelling in Europe, Anne fell in love with Prague and Czech music. She consequently moved there and gained her post graduate certificate at the Prague Academy of Music under Jan Panenka. Whilst there, Anne became a member of Trio Vivo and toured with them. She was also a prize winner in the Smetana International Piano competition, and taught at the International School of Prague.

After winning a full scholarship to the San Francisco Conservatory of Music, Anne moved there, and completed her Master of Music degree in Piano Accompaniment and chamber music. Upon graduating, she stayed on as staff accompanist, teacher and vocal coach. She performed widely with various ensembles and performed regularly with singers from the San Francisco Opera.

Anne is very happy to be back in Sydney with her family. She continues to perform regularly and has a thriving and successful teaching studio.
